INPATIENT HOSPITAL CODER – 8049


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Prefer AS or BS in Health Information Management or related health
degree; in lieu of an AS degree, will consider candidate with high school
diploma and a minimum of 5 years relevant coding experience, required.

Certification: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS required.

Experience: 5 – 7 yrs. ICD-10-CM/PCS Inpatient/Outpatient coding in acute care
hospital setting. Required: Extensive knowledge of medical terminology,
pathophysiology, and pharmacology, required. Use of 3M Coding & Reimbursement
system, required. Knowledge of how MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs are calculated;
knowledge of IP APR-DRGs for NYS is a plus. Knowledge and/or experience with a
Clinical Documentation Improvement Program (CDIP) or 3M’s CDIS is a plus.
Experience with Meditech Magic EHR is also a plus.

General Skills:Organization, good communication, both written and oral; good
interpersonal skills, customer relations, analytical skills, comprehend written
instructions, follow verbal instructions, basic computer skills, Microsoft
Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
