Few places are more beautiful than The Historic Catskill Point. And that’s the reason we go back year after year for the annual Columbia Memorial Hospital Ball.
Saturday night, June 4th, was no exception. “The Jewel in the Crown” Ball transported more than 400 CMH supporters to India for a night of dining and dancing, capped off by a magical blue and gold fireworks display over the Hudson River.
This year’s Ball was presented by North American Partners in Anesthesia and was held in honor of long-time Board of Trustees Member and CMH champion, Aven A. Kerr.
Aven joined the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation Board in 2002 and has served in numerous leadership roles including terms as Chair, Vice Chair, President, and Secretary. She continues to be an active Board member today. Aven’s leadership roles spanned the very successful 2004-2009 “Fulfilling the Dream” capital campaign. That campaign raised $10 million and funded many important capital projects including renovations to the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department; the purchase of state-of-the-art Medical Imaging equipment; the beautifully redesigned Paul and Clara Kellner Café; renovation of the Hospital’s main lobby, 5th and 6th floors; the parking garage and connector to the Medical Office Building; and the expansion and renovation of the Hospital laboratory.
Aven was elected to the Hospital Board of Trustees in 2007 where she has served as both its Secretary and Vice Chair, as well as Chairing the Governance and Compensation Committees. She also sits on the Performance Improvement Council, and the Finance, Audit, and Ethics Committees.
Aven’s community involvement extends beyond CMH and the Hospital Foundation. She is an active member of the Chatham Planning Board, is Vice Chair of the National Bank of Coxsackie Board of Directors, and Treasurer of the David Whitcomb Foundation. Another favorite is Tannery Pond Concerts and she thanks Lois and Nikolai for bringing her to Columbia County.
Thank you, Aven, for your commitment to CMH – our region’s Jewel. Your many contributions are treasured and we are delighted to honor you at this year’s Hospital Ball.
